German Pilaf

Another one of our German heritage recipes.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 3 cubes chicken stock
  • 1 bunch parsley, chopped
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1½ cups bulgar or cracked wheat
  • 1 very large onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup or more chopped or slivered almonds
  • ½ cup or more chopped dried apricots
  • ½ cup or more raisons (light)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Chop the onion and the garlic. Fry until just transparent in the butter. Mix all of the ingredients in a large baking dish.
  2. Bake for ½ hour @ 350F, covered with tin foil or a lid.
