Apple Strudel
This Apple Strudel is easy and fun to make. The resulting strudel is a delicious, festive dessert just like the ones you would get in Germany filled with sweet, spiced apples and nuts in a flaky crust that everyone will love!

INGREDIENTS:
- 5 sheets filo pastry
- 2 medium apples, Granny Smith or Galas
- 3 Tablespoons melted butter and 3 Tablespoons olive oil, mixed
- 1/3 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts or pecans)
- 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat the oven to 375 F.
- Quarter, core and peel the apples
- Cut the quartered apples in half lengthwise and then across as well
- Toss the chopped apples with the lemon juice
- In a frying pan heat a tablespoon of butter. Add the nuts and bread crumbs. Cook on medium heat for 3 minutes. Set aside.
- In a bowl, toss the nut mixture, apples, cinnamon and granulated sugar
- Brush the filo sheets with the hot butter/oil mixture. Build up a five high layer of these buttered filo sheets.
- With the narrow side facing you, put the apple mixture onto the filo - about an inch from each side and the front.
- Carefully roll up, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Place the roll on a parchment covered cookie pan.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The Apples should be fsoft and the filo nicely browned. Bon Appetit.
